TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy announced during his daily press conference Wednesday afternoon 1,513 new positive test results, increasing the state's total to 131,890. He also reported there were 308 COVID-19 deaths bringing New Jersey's total of to 8,549. 

As of Tuesday night’s reporting, there were 5,221 patients hospitalized for COVID-19. There are 1,549 patients in either critical or intensive care, and 1,146 patients on ventilators. There were 439 new hospitalizations and 435 "live" discharges.

According to New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli, a total of 256,064 tests have been administered, with 101,378 testing positive, a 39.59% positive rate.

"We continue to see the daily counts of new cases leveling, even as more testing sites continue to come online. The rate of positivity among those who are tested also continues to decrease," Murphy said. "Even with the good news we see from our health systems, we cannot forget that there are families across this state who are receiving the worst possible news."

Bergen County continues to lead the state in cases with 16,520, followed by Hudson (16,197), Essex (14,951), Passaic (13,971), and Union (13,604), with 594 under investigation.  Essex County continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state with 1,349 while Bergen County has 1,289.

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco announced that there are 16,563  presumptive positive cases in the county as of 12 noon Wednesday. Locally, Hasbrouck Heights has 184 cases, Wood-Ridge 133 cases, and Teterboro 5. Hackensack continues to have the most cases with 1,218.
