PARAMUS, NJ – A portion of Paramus Road that was closed completely to traffic for an overpass replacement project reopened on Sunday, according to officials.
Paramus Road was shut in both directions on May 31 to allow for the New Jersey Department of Transportation to demolish and replace the overpass above Route 4. Additonally, several ramps to the highway were closed and Route 4 traffic in both directions was shifted to use the shoulders as a travel lane.
Work was estimated to last two weeks, according to the NJDOT. Once the bridge is reopened, work will continue on fencing, guiderail, parapets and final paving. According to the NJDOT, the $5 million state-funded project should be complete by the fall.
