TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy announced the newest number of presumptive positive cases of novel coronavirus and deaths at his Saturday afternoon press conference. Hackensack continues to be the municipality with the most cases in the county.

There were 3,026 new cases with 231 new deaths. Statewide, there are 81,420 positive cases and 4,070 deaths in total as of Friday. 

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco announced that there are 12,183 presumptive positive cases in the county as of 12 noon Saturday. Locally, Hasbrouck Heights has 146 cases, Wood-Ridge 96 cases, and Teterboro 2 cases. Hackensack had 871, according to Tedesco.

The Governor announced Bergen County continues to lead the state in cases with 12,163, and followed by Hudson (9,956), Essex (9,901), Union (8,959), Passaic (7,36) and Middlesex (7,624.)  There are a total of 741 deaths in Bergen County.

Judith Persichilli, Department of Health Commissioner, noted that there are 7,718 people hospitalized with COVID-19 or under investigation, which is a 3% decrease in the growth rate over the past two days, she said. Of those 2,024 are in critical care, and 1,642 of those people are on ventilators.

She noted that as of 10 p.m. on Friday, 814 people were discharged from hospitals.  And 9,696 COVID patients or persons under investigation have been discharged. She said that people "can't let up" on the social distancing measures.

The two Medical Field Stations have 90 patients. Persichilli said that a local Secaucus hotel was being used for convalescence care, the period which a patient is out of quarantine but not yet well enough to go home. Rooms at the hotel are also being used by healthcare professionals.

Persichilli said that 147,850 tests have been administered, with 66,734 testing positive, a 45.14% positive rate.
