TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy reviewed the newest number of presumptive positive cases of novel coronavirus and deaths at his Friday press conference, where announced the resumption of elective surgeries and details for the upcoming state primary election in July.

There are 1,297 new cases with 201 new deaths. Statewide, there are now 143,905 positive cases and 10,138 deaths. 

According to the governor, Bergen County is now in second place in total positive case with 17,195. Hudson County now has the most in the state with 17,237, followed by Bergen, Essex (15,953), Passaic (14,930), Union (14,492), with 885 under investigation.  There are a total of 1,443 deaths in Bergen County, while Essex County continues to lead the state with 1,510.

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco announced that there are 17,160 presumptive positive cases in the county as of 12 noon Friday.  Hasbrouck Heights has 199 cases, Wood-Ridge 136, while Teterboro has 6 cases. 

As of 10 p.m. Thursday, there were 3,823 people hospitalized with COVID-19 or under investigation, with 1,127 patients in ICU or critical care, and 865 patients on ventilators. Patient discharges (357) continued to outpace new admissions (285), but that's a "gap we want to see widen," said Murphy.
