TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy released the latest COVID-19 figures from around the state during his Friday afternoon press conference where he also released guidelines for parents who choose an all-virtual or remote learning for their school age children in the fall and re-state his case for direct financial assistance from the federal government.

In New Jersey, there were 488 new cases reported, with 36 new deaths. Statewide, there are 178,345 positive cases and 13,845 deaths, and 1,920 probable COVID-19 deaths.

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco announced that there are 20,187 positive cases in the county as of 12 pm Friday. According to Tedesco, Hasbrouck Heights has 214 cases, Wood-Ridge has 150 cases, and Teterboro has 6 cases.

According to Murphy, Bergen County has 20,162 positive cases, and followed by Hudson (19,313), Essex (19,228), Middlesex (17,476), Passaic (17,237) with 675 under investigation.  There are a total of 1,778 deaths in Bergen County, while Essex County, continues to lead the state with 1,851, according to Governor Murphy.

As of 10 p.m. Thursday, Murphy noted there were 800 patients in the hospital being treated for COVID-19, 388 who tested positive and 412 persons under investigation. There are 138 patients were in ICU or critical care, and 62 patients on ventilators, per the governor.
