TRENTON, NJ -- Gov. Phil Murphy during his daily press conference on Friday afternoon announced 2,651 new positive test results, pushing the statewide total to 121,190. He also reported another 311 COVID-19 deaths bringing New Jersey's total of loss of life to 7,538. 

As of Thursday night’s reporting, there were 5,972 patients hospitalized for COVID-19, down 28 percent from a high of 8,293 on April 14, said Murphy. The field medical stations reported 46 patients, and have treated a total of 380.

Statewide, there are 1,724 patients in either critical or intensive care, and 1,286 patients on ventilators, which continues the overall downward trend according to the governor. There were 532 new hospitalizations and 571 "live" discharges.

A total of 229,693 tests have been administered, with 94,338 testing positive, a 41.07% positive rate.

According to Murphy, Bergen County continues to lead the state in cases with 15,830, followed by Hudson (15,148), Essex (13,994), Passaic (12814), and Union (12.779), with 583 under investigation.  Essex County continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state with 1,240 while Bergen County has 1,187.

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco announced that there are 15,982 presumptive positive cases in the county as of 12 noon Friday. Locally, Hasbrouck Heights has 182 cases, Wood-Ridge 125 cases, and Teterboro 5. Hackensack continues to have the most cases with 1,163.
