TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy reviewed the newest number of presumptive positive cases of novel coronavirus and deaths at his Tuesday press conference, where announced an Administrative Order authorizing in-person sales to resume at car dealerships, motorcycle dealerships, boat dealerships, and bike shops, by appointment only and with social distancing measures in place. The Order will take effect at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20. 

In addition, Murphy announced that CVS will offer self-swab tests at a minimum of 50 New Jersey locations by the end of May, noting, "this is another important step forward as we continue to build testing capacity in our state."

There are 1,055 new cases with 162 new deaths. Statewide, there are now 149,013 positive cases and 10,586 deaths.

According to the governor, Hudson County still leads the state in cases with 17,621, followed by Bergen (17,522), Essex (16,686), Passaic (15,371), and Union (15,031), with 778 under investigation.  There are a total of 1,474 deaths in Bergen County, while Essex County continues to lead the state in fatalities with 1,5465

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco announced that there are 17,516 presumptive positive cases in the county as of 12 p.m. Tuesday.  Hasbrouck Heights has 199 cases, Wood-Ridge 138, while Teterboro has 7 cases. 

As of 10 p.m. Monday, Murphy said there were 3,481 people hospitalized with COVID-19 or under investigation, with 977 patients in ICU or critical care, and 789 patients on ventilators.

"I can't emphasize enough how important the hospitalization, ICU and ventilator numbers are to our thinking about the road back," said Murphy. "They are perhaps the most vital data points we received."

Patient discharges (173) were up compared to the new admissions (161.)
