HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - The Hasbrouck Heights Soccer Association hosted its annual Soccer Swarm to celebrate the start of the new soccer season. This year the organization used the event to give back to families in the community with a food drive for the Hasbrouck Heights Food Pantry.
The idea of the food pantry was raised by Councilman Steve Reyngoudt, who is also a coach. He mentioned that the food pantry was in need of donations, said League president Mike Karcic.
"We always try to do a cause each year," said Karcic. "A few years ago we did something with the Wounded Warriors and raising money."
Once the League board approved the food drive for the pantry, they "raised the stakes" by rewarding the team with the most donations with an ice cream party. According to Karcic, teams were so generous, they will be rewarding the top three teams.
Teams brought their non-perishable contributions to Saturday's Swarm to tables dedicated for the drive. The bags were organized by team. Karcic said roughly 535 items were donated, including rice and pasta, salad dressing and condiments, cake mix and tea, canned vegetables, pizza mix, crackers, pudding, cereal, and soups.

2-Geentop Landscaping - Coach Steve Reyngoudt
3-Realty 3 Group - Coach Alyson Gorski
