HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - Clear blue skies and temperatures in the low 70's were the ideal setting for the Hasbrouck Heights Elks Lodge #1962 "Thank You" BBQ for first responders and essential medical personnel in Hasbrouck Heights and Lodi on Saturday afternoon.

According to Joyce Powell, each Elks Lodge received grants which were to be used in response to COVID-19 needs in their communities. She said that they wanted to thank the "police, fire, EMS, and essential medical personnel who were dealing with the crisis on a daily basis."

Powell said Lodge 1962 also sponsored breakfast for the New Jersey National Guard troops in Bergen County, with the coordination of Dale Sipos. The BBQ was another outreach to support first responders.

The menu consisted of steak sandwich, with a choice of cheese, onion and peppers, and mushrooms; tuna salad on a roll; hot dog, and sides of cole claw, baked beans, and watermelon.

Those in attendance included the Lodi Fire Department and EMS, Hackensack Meridian EMS, and Hasbrouck Heights Fire and EMS. In total, 100 first responders were served, according to Powell.
