HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ -  Hasbrouck Heights was presented a safety award by the New Jersey Intergovernmental Insurance Fund (NJIIF)  at the July 23 meeting of the Hasbrouck Heights Borough Council . The NJIIF, founded in 1991, is a public entity, created as a means of managing Workers’ Compensation costs. In 1995, the fund increased the scope of coverage in the program to include property and casualty. 

NJIIF co-administrator Eric Nemeth presented a check for $1,250 to Mayor Jack DeLorenzo, Borough Administrator Michael Kronyak, and Councilmen Justin DiPisa and Ron Kistner along with a plague recognizing the Borough’s efforts to reduce claims on annual basis. It is the second straight year they have been given an award.  

The Council also passed four ordinances on first reading.

Ordinance 2447 appropriated $100,000 for repair and reconstruction of certain portions of the sanitary sewage/storm water drainage facilities within the borough.  It also authorized the issuance of bonds of up to $49,000 to finance the project.

Ordinance  2448 appropriated $400,000 to provide for the 2019 Road Resurfacing Program provided for in the Capital Budget. It also authorized financing the cost in accordance with the provisions of local bond law by allowing the issuance of bonds not to exceed $380,000.

Ordinance 2449 appropriated $350,00 to provide for the resurfacing of Raymond Street, to apply the cost to a grant from the NJ Department of Transportation Municipal Aid Program in the amount of $202,000, $8,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund and to authorize the issuance of bonds not to exceed $140,000 .

Ordinance 2550 appropriated sum of $450,000 to provide for Phase X of the Boulevard Street Scape Improvement Project (Springfield Ave to Henry Street and Williams Avenue to Longworth Ave.) to apply the cost to a grant from the NJDOT Municipal Aid Program in the sum of $218,000, $12,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund and to authorize the financing of the remaining $220,00 in accordance with local bond law.
