HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - What did not happen at the Hasbrouck Heights Borough Council meeting was more interesting than what did occur.

At the end of the public hearing of citizens, Ptl. Jarret Cooke, the representative for State PBA 102, which represents the members of the Hasbrouck Heights police department, addressed the Council.  After thanking Councilman Russell Lipari for donating a week of his vacation time to a PBA fund-raiser, Cooke requested a closed session meeting with the Council.

The Council deferred to Borough Attorney Richard Malagiere, who after ascertaining that the discussion to be about a “settlement offer”, stepped outside the meeting with Cooke to discuss what the matter further so that Malagiere could determine whether the request was appropriate.  When they returned, Malagiere advised against the meeting.

Mayor DeLorenzo then closed the public hearing of citizens, and as, there was no further business on the agenda, closed the meeting.

Prior to that Tuesday’s Council meeting had been a matter of routine business.

The Council approved the following communications.

  2.
