HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - Below is the text of Mayor Jack Delorenzos' report at Tuesday's Borough Council meeting.
We are still going through a very difficult time in our lives. I appreciate all of your cooperation and understanding. I know people have lost friends and loved ones and wish to express my condolences for these tragic losses. It doesn’t seem fair but it is our difficult reality right now. We need to stay strong for a little while longer and know this will end and be under control at some point. For those who are having other difficulties please check our website or call the Borough Clerk’s office and we will do our best to assist you or help you get to the resources you need.
According to our health official, the number of people testing positive for the virus is going down daily. The number of those tested is now growing larger with many more negative results.
Census: We are currently at a 63.8% completion rate. We are right in the middle as compared to other Bergen County towns. Let’s make a push for the next few weeks to get that completion percentage as high as we can. We need everyone who has not done so to participate in the Census. It is important for many reasons, but now, for example, with this Pandemic it could directly impact our FEMA funding. If you have the means to do so, fill it out online. When I did it, I think it took about 10 minutes. It was very easy, so don’t be intimidated.
I have been on the weekly Mayor’s calls with the Governor’s office and it seems like there will be some sort of opening of the majority of business by Memorial Day. I know it’s rough and a lot of this doesn’t make sense, but we are in it so let’s hang on a little longer.
God Bless Hasbrouck Heights and God Bless America
