WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - Mayor Paul Sarlo, Councilwoman Catherine Cassidy and Councilman Joseph DiMarco were sworn into office as Wood-Ridge during the Wood-Ridge Reorganization Meeting on New Year’s Day in the Council chambers.
Borough Clerk Gina Affuso announced the official results of the November 5, 2019 election, certifying the results into the record.
Paul A. Sarlo elected to a full four-year term as Mayor with a vote of 1,335.
Catherine Cassidy elected to a full three-year term as Councilperson with a vote of 1,303.
Joseph DiMarco elected to a full three-year term as Councilperson with a vote of 1,237.
After the reading of the election results, the newly, re-elected officials joined the Dais.
The Wood-Ridge Boys Scouts then entered and presented the Colors and led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Sarlo commented that he was pleased to see the Boys Scouts there, and noted that there had been a recent uptick in participation in the organization over the past few years.
The oaths of office were then administered by Borough Attorney Paul Barbire to Mayor Sarlo and Councilwoman Cassidy. Mayor Sarlo administered the oath to Councilman DiMarco.
Councilman Phil Romero was selected as President of the Council, and was sworn in by Mayor Sarlo. It is his first stint at Council President. He has served on the Council since 2012.
The adoption of the Council By-Laws for the Year, along with the order of the order of roll for the upcoming year, was passed. The roll call will be Councilman Romero, Councilperson Cassidy, Councilman Ezio Altamura, Councilman Dominick Azzolini, Councilman Edward Marino, and Councilman Joseph DiMarco.
Sarlo nominated Christopher W. Eilert as Borough Administrator, Paul S. Barbire as Borough Attorney and Michael J. Neglia as Borough Engineer. All were approved.
