WOOD-RIDGE, NJ -  The Wood-Ridge Borough Council took another first step towards a new recreation complex by passing a bond ordinance on first reading last Wednesday to provide the Wood-Ridge’s contribution to the project.  The hearing of citizens and second reading will occur at the December 4 meeting of the Wood-Ridge Council.

Bond Ordinance 2019-15 was unanimously passed by the Council, which will provide funding for the design phase for the construction of the Wood-Ridge Athletic Complex. The complex will be located on Kennedy Lane in the Wesmont Station neighborhood in Wood-Ridge.

The sum of $500,000 is to pay for Wood-Ridge’s portion of the complex, which is “roughly 30%” of the cost of the project, according to Mayor Paul Sarlo.  Its authorization also covers the issuance of Bond Anticipation notes in anticipation of the issuance of said bonds. Additionally, as part of the consent agenda, a resolution was passed for Neglia Engineering Associates to provide surveying and engineering services to the Athletic Complex.

Additionally, an ordinance for the modification of Borough towing rates also passed on first reading.

As part of the consent agenda, the Borough authorized refunds to the owners of 16 home, Lereta Tax Services and Corelogic Tax Services, due to an error committed at closing by the closing attorneys.  Borough Administrator Chris Eilert explained that the calculation of taxes owed at closing was incorrect, and the Borough was paid for one extra month, and was simply returning the overpayment.

The error in the calculations had been discovered before the closings took place, he added, but it was determined that this way would be easier than redoing all the closing documentation.
