Roughly 14 percent of New Jersey adults smoke cigarettes.  Although this number has decreased since 2010, multiple organizations are working to give those who live or work in Bergen County the tools and resources to make the commitment to quit.  Quitting isn’t easy, however an estimated seven out of 10 current smokers wish to quit.  Counseling and medication are both effective quitting methods, and even more effective when used in combination.

Through the Bergen-Hudson Chronic Disease Coalition, the Bergen County Department of Health Services offers free individual smoking cessation counseling at the County Administration Building which is located at One Bergen County Plaza.  For more information or to schedule an appointment, please feel free to contact Melissa Fraas at 201-634-2608. Appointment times are flexible.
