HASBROUCK HEIGHT, NJ -- The Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department will be touring the Easter Bunny around town on Saturday for the town's children. This is the first time ever the department has escorted the Bunny around town, according to HHFD Chief Dave Gumbrecht.
Gumbrecht said the department realized that the borough's Easter hunt had been canceled and the kids didn't get to visit with the Easter Bunny. He said the whole department was "100 percent in agreement" to tour the Easter Bunny, like they do when Santa Claus visits in December.
There will be two Easter Bunny's touring town, starting at 12 noon. One will start at Lincoln Avenue and the Boulevard. The second will begin at Central Avenue and the Boulevard. Each processional will have a three vehicle convoy, including the Bunny. Residents should listen for the sirens that will sound, announcing the Easter Bunny's arrival a few minutes later. Children can stand on their porches or in the windows and wave as the Bunny goes by.
Chief Gumbrecht said both convoys will go east to west throughout the town, down every road and street, including down dead end roads and through the various apartment complexes.
Due to Governor Murphy's stay at home mandate and need for social distancing, the Easter Bunny cannot make stops and get down from the vehicle.
