HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - The American Library Association (ALA) announced that Hasbrouck Heights Free Public Library is selected to participate in Libraries Lead with Digital Skills, an initiative of ALA and the Public Library Association (PLA.) It is sponsored by Grow With Google, the tech company’s economic opportunity initiative.

Hasbrouck Heights Library will use the funding to host workshops for small business owners. Participants will learn how to collect the necessary information on their community, customers and competition in order to write a business plan. Other topics include learning how to write a business plan, and a financial plan that will determine how much it will cost to start the business. The financial plan will also estimate revenue and profit, giving participants an idea as to whether the business will be profitable.

Workshop dates are Wednesdays March 4 and 18 at 7pm. Participants may come to one or both.  They will have access to the lessons 24/7 online once they receive their class code. Registration opens on Monday, February 10, and is free.

"I am thrilled the library has the opportunity to be of help to empower small business owners to thrive in the community," said Mimi Hui, Director, Hasbrouck Heights Library. "By showing them key tools and access to various resources, we want them to succeed and feel supported."

This program is funded by Libraries Lead with Digital Skills, which was created so that local libraries can combine their own program offerings with Grow with Google training materials to offer community workshops or other activities aimed at empowering small businesses to grow online or assisting job seekers to prepare for and find work.

Registration is available through the Calendar function of Hasbrouck Heights Library's website.
