WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - It was a celebratory evening of food, entertainment, and dancing at the Wood-Ridge Mayor's 20th annual Holiday Pasta Dinner held at the Senior Center on Friday night.
Councilman Ezio Altamura welcomed the almost 75 guests in attendance to the annual event. Altmamura recognized the guests and those who assisted in making the dinner happen, including Council members Catherine Cassidy, Phil Romero, Dominic Azzolini, Joseph DiMarco, former Councilman Ed Pfeifer, former Mayor and Judge Bob Guida, Director of Recreation Jackie Goldklang, borough bus driver Bob Montanile, Borough Administrator Chris Eilert, and Barbara Fischkelta, Recreation Commissioner, and Recreation Commission Chairman Dennis Brubaker and his wife Rea.
Members of Wood-Ridge Girl Scout Troop 95994 opened the evening's entertainment. Troop leader Maureen Herman and troop mom Maureen Hutchinson led the girls in performing several holiday songs including, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Feliz Navidad, and Let It Snow. The Girl Scouts also gave away raffle prizes. The Council also raffled off $5 scratch off lottery tickets to the seniors.
Mayor Paul Sarlo also addressed the seniors, thanked the volunteers and seniors for attending.
Dinner included manicotti, meatballs, sausage, bread, and salad. Dessert included a selection of cookies and pastries along with coffee and tea. The chefs who volunteered for the evening were John Branda, Rick Kimble, Lucian Cauceglia, Dominick Branda Jr., John Branda Jr., and Andrea Branda.
This year's entertainment was provided by Miss Nita, who regularly works with the Wood-Ridge Memorial Library. Students from Wood-Ridge High School helped throughout the evening, even getting the seniors up on the dance floor.
At the end of the evening, food was sent to needy families in the borough.
