WOOD-RIDGE, NJ  -- Santa Claus made a brief stopover at the Wood-Ridge Fire Department on Saturday afternoon, checking in on all the borough's girls and boys before his return on Christmas Eve.

He met with upwards of 70 children, listening to their gift requests, visiting with them and their parents. Children received a special gift after their visit.

After a brief rest and lunch with Wood-Ridge's bravest, Santa took his place atop one of the fire trucks fitted with a special cab just for Santa and reindeer. He headed out to make the rounds throughout the town. The WRFD posted updates on social media and through its Twitter account, so parents could track his movements through town. The special convoy traveled 26 miles, and visited different streets before heading back to the North Pole to prepare for his return trip on Christmas Eve.
