HACKENSACK, NJ - A Hasbrouck Heights doctor accused of sexual assault was back in court on Monday morning requesting a modification of his pre-trial release conditions.
Dr. Carl Renner petitioned the court to sell his family's Glen Rock home and move in with his son in his Virginia home. Renner cited financial hardship, had his medical license temporarily suspended in late June, and is unable to work at his office in Hasbrouck Heights. He is currently on home detention with electronic monitoring. He is required to check in via phone and in-person twice a month with local authorities. Renner's lawyer said the 67-year old would voluntarily waive extradition, and agreed to return to Bergen County for in-person appearances with the court as required.
Bergen County Prosecutor's attorneys opposed the petition saying he was at the highest level pre-trial monitoring level, and they had not received any documentation of hardship. Judge James X. Sattely found "good cause to modify" the agreement, keeping in place the home detention and reporting. Electronic monitoring would end. He reiterated that Renner should have no contact with the alledged victims or families, or with the staff of the practice pertaining to this issue.
Renner was arrested in early June as part of an investigation of the between the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and Hasbrouck Heights Police Department.
