HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office arrested a New York City man who had $50,000 worth of cocaine on him, which a narcotic investigation revealed he had intended to distribute within the New York Metropolitan area.
According to a news release from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, 39-year-old Alexander Garces Brioso, who is employed with Optimum Wireless, was identified as a distributor of large quantities of narcotics within the vicinity of New York City and northern New Jersey. Garces Brioso was stopped in traffic Monday in Leonia while traversing Interstate 95 southbound. Arresting detectives seized roughly 1,000 grams of the illicit stimulant at the conclusion of a motor vehicle search.
Garces Brioso was arrested without incident and charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, a first-degree crime. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack and is due in court at an undisclosed date.
