HACKENSACK, NJ - Wood-Ridge resident Steven Cabrera was arrested on three charges as a result of a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Wood-Ridge Police Department under the direction of Chief John Korin, it was announced by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.
The Wood-Ridge Police Department received information that Cabrera sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13 on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. The Wood-Ridge Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
As a result of an investigation, on Tuesday, May 5, Cabrera was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault, a first degree crime; one count of Sexual Assault By Sexual Contact, a second degree crime; and one count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child By Sexual Conduct, a third degree crime. He is scheduled for his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ, on Monday, May 18.
Prosecutor Mark Musella reminds the public that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He also thanked the Wood-Ridge Police Department for its assistance in the investigation
