TRENTON, NJ - New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy recognized one of the borough's residents at his Monday afternoon press conference who passed award from COVID-19.

Felicisimo "Tom"  Omana Luna Jr. lived in Wood-ridge, according to Murphy. Born and raised in the Philippines, he came to the United States in 1986 and worked to become a licensed medical technologist for the Hebrew Home For The Aged in the Riverside neighborhood of the Bronx. It was there that he met a nurse, Enricata, known as Kitty. They would marry, move to Belleville, and raise three daughters, Gabrielle, Gracielle, and Giselle, said Murphy. Luna earned an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Bergen Community College and received his RN license. In 2016, he earned his bachelor's degree in nursing from the College of St. Elizabeth.

"Tom was one of our frontline heroes, a nurse in the emergency department at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, where he kept up helping those who needed him until he fell ill," said Murphy.
