NEW YORK, NY --  The Port Authority Police Department will conduct DWI checkpoints at PA facilities starting Friday, July 5 at 10 p.m. through 6 a.m. Saturday, July 6, the PAPD announced on Wednesday. It is part of the organization's commitment to ensuring the safety of the traveling public.

Drivers will be subject to random inspection. The purpose of the DWI checkpoint is to deter and apprehend anyone who operates a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Police also will distribute literature on the dangers of driving while intoxicated.
