NEW JERSEY - Election Day is Tuesday, November 5. Polls are open across the Garden State from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Election Day is not a federal holiday, but it is a state holiday in New Jersey. Since Election Day is not a federal holiday, there will be mail delivery on November 5. However, state offices and courts will be closed. The Division of Motor Vehicles and Inspection stations are closed. Banks are open as is the stock market. Retail stores, restaurants and most businesses throughout the state are open on Election Day.

New Jersey school districts have the option to close on Election Day. Locally, both Hasbrouck Heights and Wood-Ridge school districts have early dismissal/half day. Bergen County Technical School in Teterboro has a full day. The South Bergen Jointure Commission is closed for students; the staff has a professional development day.
