Prestige Diner and Family Restaurant, a favorite gathering spot for people of all ages in New Providence, NJ,  has been busy whipping up wintertime cocktails.

“Our food menu has many seasonal and organic ingredients, so we are doing the same with our drinks,” said Dimitrios ‘Jimmy’ Vardas, who owns the restaurant with his brother Harry Vardas.

“Cranberries, apples, thyme are all winter gifts from nature, so we use them in our cocktails also,” he said.

Here, he shares two of their most popular concoctions, just in time for New Year’s Eve.

Under the Mistletoe

Ingredients:

2 orange wheels

7 fresh cranberries

2 oz. Bombay Sapphire Gin

1/2 oz. agave syrup

2 oz. cranberry juice

1 oz. club soda

Sprig of fresh thyme

In a hurricane glass, muddle orange and 4 cranberries. Add gin and agave; top with ice. Top with cranberry juice and club soda.

Stir with thyme. Garnish with thyme and remaining 3 cranberries.

 

Forbidden Apple

Ingredients:

1 oz. Patron Citronage orange

1 oz. Calvados apple brandy

3 dashes angostura bitters

4 oz. Champagne or Prosecco

1 orange wheel

Put first three ingredients in a Champagne flute and stir gently. Top of with Champagne or Prosecco. Garnish with orange wheel.
