Make sure you use real maple syrup — not maple-flavored pancake syrup — for this take on the classic old fashioned cocktail.

Maple Old Fashioned


2 oz. rye whiskey, such as Dad’s Hat

¼ oz. maple syrup

3-5 dashes Angostura bitters

Slice of orange peel

Combine whiskey, maple syrup and bitters in a mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled. Strain and serve over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with orange peel.
