SUNBURY, PA -- One day of running down, six more to go for a Bergen County teacher running 188+ miles to raise funds and awareness for MS.

Hasbrouck Heights resident and Cliffside Park teacher and coach Jamie Woyce completed 29 miles on Saturday in the first day of the final leg of the MS Run the US, an ultra relay race from California to New York.  She set out while it was still dark on Saturday morning, wearing a fluorescent belt and shoe lights. Saturday's run took her through rural Pennsylvania, as she watched the sunrise over farms.

Her full journey will take her from Sunbury, Pennsylvania through New Jersey to New York City in seven days.

"The hills were huge! But I hear tomorrow might be a little less at least in the beginning," said Woyce late Saturday afternoon. "I actually felt better towards the end then I did in the middle. So that was encouraging."

"I am a little tired and sore but doing a lot of recovery stuff this afternoon and night., " Woyce continued. "Last night’s sleep was choppy because of nerves and anticipation. But I am tired tonight so i am thinking I will sleep pretty well."

She admitted that she "had a little trouble with nausea" due to a new drink she tried so she was frustrated.

"I am a little nervous about what I will feel like tomorrow but I will continue to just move forward and go bit by bit," she said. "I’m looking forward to the next day and adventure."
