HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - Hasbrouck Heights Police responded to a single car accident where the driver fled the scene on the evening of September 9. .
Officers responded to the area of Franklin and the Boulevard on a report of a single car motor vehicle accident on Wednesday, September 9, at approximately 10:41 p.m., according to Detective Sergeant John Behr of the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department. Officers found a white Kia with heavy front end damage, airbag deployment, with the keys still in the ignition and running. Witnesses stated they observed what appeared to be an adult male exit the vehicle after impact and flee on foot in an unknown direction. Officers canvassed the area with mutual aid assistance from the Wood-Ridge Police Department, but the driver was not located.
Two glass pipes containing metal screening commonly used to smoke crack cocaine were observed in plain view. The evidence was secured, the vehicle was impounded. The matter under investigation by the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department.
