WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady in Wood-Ridge will be holding its fourth annual Blue Mass for all the men and women in law enforcement on Sunday, May 17, 2020.

The Mass will recognize the sacrifice and dedication of all those who serve in law enforcement, fire and EMS both in Wood-Ridge and throughout other  departments. This “Livestream” event can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/ASSUMPTIONCHURCHWOODRIDGENJ.

The Mass will be celebrated by Father Robert Norton, O.F.M. and our Co-Celebrant will be Father Paul Keenan, O.F.M. who also serves as chaplain to the Wood-Ridge Police Department.  A Blue Mass is a Mass celebrated in the Catholic Church for those employed in the "public safety field" (i.e. police officers, firefighters, correctional officers, 911 operators and EMS Personnel).

This annual event is coordinated by Councilman and Wood-Ridge Police Commissioner Ezio Altamura whose vision it is to honor the police, on this day and every day.

“This Mass is an opportunity for our community to come together in these very trying times during the Covid-19 pandemic and show gratitude to our first responders and their families for all they do for us, this day and always,” said Altamura.

Councilman Altamura thanked Pastor Richard Mucowski, Father Bob Norton, Father Paul Keenan, Music Minister and technical coordinator Gabe Valle and Rose Lepore from Assumption Church for all of their effort to make this event a success.

"Let us always keep in our prayers our local first responders, Police Chief John Korin, Fire Chief Michael Cribben and EMS Captain Dennis Kronyak and all of their men and women who selflessly serve the people of Wood-Ridge," said Altamura.
