HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ -- As part of its regular business, the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education, accepted the resignation of a Board member, approved bids and purchases, and re-approved firearms to be carried by security officers.

In a Special Resolution, the Superintendent of Schools and Board attorney received notification on June 13 from Board member Lauren Terranova resigning her position. The Board is accepting recommendations for candidates to fill the position through December 31.

The Board also passed a resolution re-authorizing "Security Officers employeed by the District to carry firearms while on school grounds, while on duty, as long as they both hold a valid permit to carry a firearm and remain employed by the district." The resolution was a renewal of the authority to carry, according to Dr. Matthew Helfant, Superintedent of Schools.

Teacher Danielle Incognito will be transfered from Euclud to Lincoln School, starting September 1.

Shannon Rodenberg will return in the fall as Special Ed and ASL teacher.

The Board approved the following benchmarks:

Third grade report card and third grade benchmarks for the 2019-20 school year;

Kindergarten to second grade phonics progression for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Board approved the following purchases and recevied quotes on:

Purchase of Houghton Mifflen Harcourt Go Math 3-year subscription for sixth to eighth grades at $35,904.04 (program renewal);

Received bits/quotes on new basketball hoops at Euclid School, extended baseball backstop at Hitchcock Field, door, fencing, and floor repairs, concrete work throughout the district, floor replacement in Lincoln School, and lighting repairs in Lincoln and Euclid schools.

It renewed a one year contract with Maschio's Food Service for the 2019- 2020 school year for a flat management fee of $18,000, payable in ten monthly installments.
