HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - Hasbrouck Heights High School will complete the week in remote learning due to one dozen students testing positive for COVID-19, according to an email from the district on Wednesday afternoon.
The district just returned to in-person classes from a week of virtual learning following the week of winter break. Parents had the choice to send their student in five days a week, remain in the A/B hybrid schedule, or remain virtual.
Below is the letter to parents from Hasbrouck Heights High School principal Linda Simmons.
This letter is to inform you that as of today, 12 students at Hasbrouck Heights High School have been identified with Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and thus far 70 students as well as 2 staff members have been quarantined as direct close contacts.
As a result and a necessary precaution, Dr. Helfant and I have made a determination in concert with our public health officials and the fact that our region remains at a “high risk level”, for the high school to switch to remote instruction for Thursday, March 4th and Friday, March 5th.
We continue to follow the CDC, state, and local health department guidance in order to assure the health and safety of our students, staff members, and their families. We are currently investigating all “close contact” cases, and those individuals found to be within “close contact” will be informed separately by our school nurses, Mrs. Neumann and Mrs. Perdomo.
If your child begins to display COVID-19 symptoms, please contact our school nurses immediately.
As always, we appreciate our school community’s support and consideration. You can assist us by remaining vigilant but sensible in your approach to dealing with this health concern. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
In addition, all high school team sports and associated activities will be cancelled through Sunday, March 7th, unless otherwise notified of an extended date of return. School will reopen for in person learning on Monday, March 8th (It will be an A Group Day on Wednesday, March 10th).
The schedule will be as follows:
Period 1: 8:15-8:45am
Period 2: 8:48-9:18am
Period 3: 9:21-9:51am
Period 4: 9:54-10:24am

Period 6: 11:00-11:30am
Period 7: 11:33-12:03pm
