HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - During the month of October, the Lincoln School PTA held a “LinCOIN” fundraiser to raise money to purchase a variety of educational programs that will benefit the Lincoln School students during the 2019-2020 school year. The grand total raised was an impressive $2,859.84.
The “LinCOIN” fundraiser turned into a friendly and fun competition among all grade levels, as the grade level that raised the most money would get to participate in a celebration of their choice.
The fundraiser replaced the Fun Run, which the organization had held over the past few years, and aided in purchasing Smart Boards for classrooms.
The grade-level winners of the competition were the PreK/Kindergarten and Third Grade classes for being the first to reach a donation of $500. The biggest winners, however, are all of the Lincoln Leopards, since the grand prize will be to participate in “Sliming” Mr. Colangelo.
"I am so grateful for all of the fundraisers our PTA has organized over the years as well as the generosity of our Lincoln School families," said Joseph Colangelo, Lincoln School principal. "Their contributions have greatly impacted our students and school. The LinCOIN Competition is yet another creative fundraising effort that gives back to the school"
While there is no set date for the "sliming," Colangelo said "it will take place prior to the New Year."
"I am so proud of all of the students at Lincoln School for raising so much money during the Lin Coin Competition," said Jennie Porfido, PTA president. "The money raised will help us fund educational programs, cultural arts programs and hopefully bring in some new authors to visit our school. I would like to thank Jaclyn Stayback for organizing and executing this entire event. Without her, the LinCoin Competition would not have been a success!"
The money raised from this fundraiser will go towards bringing in more educational programs for the students. Porfido said they "would also like to being in more authors to visit our school after the success of Dan Gutman last school year."
