HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ -- The start of Hasbrouck Heights High School's "The Wizard of Oz" was delayed Wednesday afternoon, as a local television station stopped by to interview the lead performer and the rest of the cast ahead of a special afternoon matinee.
Senior Erin Bischoff sat down with New Jersey reporter Pat Battle with NBC New York. They discussed the challenges she faces, having osteogenesis imperfecta, or brittle bone disease, and faces challenges like her character in the show. Bischoff was also asked about her activism, and how she's become an advocate for accepting others no matter the differences.
During the intermission, Battle also spoke with some of the principal actors, as well as Superintendent of Schools, Dr Matthew Helfant, and high school Principal Linda Simmons.
The segment aired during the 6pm newscast Wednesday night, as the cast and crew gathered in preparation of opening night. It can be found on the WNBC TV website.
