WOOD-RIDGE, NJ -- The Wood-Ridge Board of Education announced some key dates throughout September at Monday's monthly meeting.

As part of his Superintendent's Report, Nicholas Cipriano announced the Back-to-School dates for each of the district's schools:

Thursday, September 12: Wood-Ridge Junior/Senior High School

Wednesday, September 18: Catherine E. Doyle School

Wednesday, September 25: Wood-Ridge Intermediate School

He also noted that Monday, August 26 was the seventh grade orientation; Tuesday would be the ninth grade orientation.  The first day of school for all schools is Thursday, September 5.

One of the items originally on the agenda, the Superintendent's Merit Goals for the 2019-2020 school year, was tabled until the September meeting.

The Wood-Ridge Intermediate School  Safety (WRIS)  Team for the upcoming school year will be Keith Lisa, Melanie Maida, Maria Monda, Melanie Rose-Rella, and Lisa Lorenzo. The WRIS I&RS Team will be Melanie Maida, Guidance Counselor; Keith Lisa, Principal; Betty Carroll, Special Education Teacher; and Laura Johnson, General Education Teacher.

 The Board also approved the Art Kids Academy Program for Doyle School. It will be open to students in Kindergarten through third grade, and will run from September through December. There will be no cost to the district as families will be directly to the vendor.

WRIS will again offer Mad Science workshops to fourth to sixth graders. Workshops will be held after school, from 3 to 4pm, beginning in October. The cost is $100 per student, to be paid by the families.
