WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - Three students were honored at the start of the Wood-Ridge Board of Education's November meeting on Monday night in the high school auditorium.
Keith Lisa, principal at Wood-Ridge Intermediate School, introduced fifth grade teachers Jaime Oppido and Kelly Ann Muscle, who according to Lisa,"insisted" on presenting the WRIS co-Students of the Month, Nicholas Mabel and Michael Prato.
"Both are hard-working, very conscientious, respectful, well-liked and involved in many activities in and out of school," they said. "They were selected together because they display a sense of responsibility, maturity, and respect toward their peers that goes above and beyond. They have taken it upon themselves to work cooperatively for the well-being of others and make sure their classmates have success throughout the day. They've displayed a sense of inclusion as well."
Wood-Ridge High School assistant prinicpal introduced junior Stephanie Turi as the Student of the Month for the Junior/Senior High School.
"Teachers say she is a leader, both in the hallways of the school and on the field during soccer. She's always willing to help others, whether it be with a personal problem, schoolwork or honing their skills on the soccer field. She's always there to help."
"Her soccer coach (Jerry Cala) recently commented, 'This young woman has developed into a very good soccer player...more importantly, she is the perfect example of what a student-athlete should embody."
