PHILADELPHIA, PA - Hasbrouck Heights High School alumni Sean and Michael O’Malley were among seven Drexel wrestlers to be awarded the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association 2020 Academic Achievement Award it was announced Tuesday. A total of 85 wrestlers from the EIWA were recognized.
To be eligible for the award, a Student/Athlete must meet the following criteria:
- Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.2. Participated in the EIWA Tournament, or
- Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Qualified for the NCAA Championships through the EIWA (NQ)
Sean O’Malley, a redshirt sophomore at Drexel, registered a 3.55 grade point average and represented the Dragons at the EIWA tournament. Sean is a 2017 graduate of Hasbrouck Heights High School.
Michael O’Malley, a redshirt freshman, registered a 3.17 grade point average, and came in fourth place at the EIWA, earning a spot in the NCAA championships as a National Qualifier. Michael is a 2018 graduate of Hasbrouck Heights High School. He was set to wrestle at the 2020 NCAA in Minneapolis in March before the meet was canceled due to coronavirus outbreak.
