SECAUCUS, NJ - Due to the COVID-19 pandemic canceling the 2020 Spring Season, the New Jersey Interscholastic Conference decided to honor all the 2020 seniors who would have been playing their final seasons with All-Division Honors.

"Thank you to the Senior Class of all of our member schools," stated Stan Fryczynski via press release. "Your contributions, dedication, sacrifice, and teamwork set an example for all who follow in your footsteps."

Wood-Ridge entered the 2020 season with four seniors, led by Liam Winslow, a four-year varsity player who will continue his baseball career next year at Rutgers-Newark.  He was joined by Joey Rose, Shane Herford and Noah Leone.

“No one should have to miss his senior year baseball season," Wood-Ridge baseball coach Mike Carcich stated.  “It was ripped away from you and it will never be replaced. The only thing I can hope for is to have some semblance of a summer league season and maybe alumni game so you guys have a chance to step on the Wood-Ridge Baseball Diamond one last time and hopefully we can have a senior day to honor you and your families the way you deserve. Please come back and visit in the future.”

Hasbrouck Heights also had four seniors, with Mario Gomez and Spencer Lee leading the way.  Gomez is continuing his baseball career at Penn State New Kensington next season. They were joined by Gabe Zuniga and Matthew Baker.

"I can't say enough about this senior class," stated Hasbrouck Heights baseball coach Pat Gabriele.  "They were freshmen when I was hired as the head coach and over 4 years I have seen tremendous growth as players, but more importantly as young men. The work ethic and leadership they have shown to the program and the underclassmen will be greatly missed. Each senior class is tough to say goodbye to, but for me personally, this one will be a bit harder because of what they had to endure. Just a special bunch of kids."
