ORADELL, NJ -  If at first ...

Kunga Tsering tracked down a loose ball after his first attempt at a game winning shot against Bogota bounced off the rim.  His second attempt, rolled around the rim and dropped in, giving Hasbrouck Heights a 51-49 overtime victory over the Bucs. The win was the first win in the Bergen County Jamboree in the school's history.

The teams ended regulation tied at 47-47, with the Aviators squandering a 10-point lead in the final minutes of the game.  After Hasbrouck Heights and Bogota traded baskets, Bogota missed a pair of foul shots with 23.9 seconds remaining on the clock. Tsering grabbed the rebound, and passed the ball to point guard Steven Faussette, who set the Aviators up for the game winning sequence.

Tsering took a pass in front of the Hasbrouck Heights bench, and drove right to the middle for a baby hook shot on his first attempt at the game winner. The ball bounced off the backboard and the rim, kicking back towards the Heights bench. Tsering, playing with four fouls chased after the errant shot, and collided with Bryan Delacruz, jarring the ball loose.

The referees let play continue and Tsering picked the ball up and threw up a shot from the left side that hit deep in the rim spun around once, and as the buzzer sounded, dropped in, as the Aviators came flying off the bench, in celebration.

The Aviators rallied from being down, 17-11 at the end of one quarter to lead, 27-23, at the half.

Tsering, the Aviators leading scorer, on the season, was held to four points prior to the basket.

Faussette led the Aviators with 16 points, Jaden Castro had 13 points and Will Koukoutsis had 10 to pick up the slack.

"It not about the name on the back of the jersey,' said Hasbrouck Heights head coach Mike Cebula. "It's about the name on the front, and every guy in our locker room is all about that this year."

The Aviators' win is the first in nine attempts in the Jamboree, and will face top-seeded Bergen Catholic next Saturday.  The Crusaders are one of the top-rated teams in the state, ranked #1 by MaxPreps, 5th by NJ.com.  They are first in Power Points in North Jersey Non-Public 1 schools.

Hasbrouck Heights improves to 12-2 overall on the season.
