EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - Wood-Ridge defeated Becton, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon in an NJIC Division 2 Boys soccer game on Wednesday afternoon at Riggin Field in East Rutherford.
Seydou Camara scored both goals for the Blue Devils, giving him four on the season. Cesar Velecela picked up his first assist for Wood-Ridge.
Wood-Ridge goalkeeper Kyle Ramos held off a Becton second half surge to pick up the win. He recorded seven saves on eight Becton shots.
The Blue Devils improve to 2-1 on the season, 1-1 in NJIC Division 2 play. Becton falls to 1-2 overall with the loss.
"This was a perfect team response after a heartbreaking overtime loss, especially for how young we are," said Wood-Ridge head coach Alberico DePierro. "Going on the road against a tough Becton team (as is the case every year) and winning shows immense growth in maturity. We took a step in the right direction today and now we work to be better next week."
