EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - Becton Regional High School defeated Wood-RIdge, 38-0, in an non-divisional NJIC football game Friday evening at the newly refurbished Riggin Field in East Rutherford. The loss drops Wood-Ridge to 2-2 overall.
Becton opened up the scoring on the first drive of the game with a four-yard touchdown by Cencir Bacote, giving the Wildcats an early 7-0 lead following the extra point in the first.
The Wildcats came up big on the ensuing kickoof to Wood-Ridge, forcing a fumble on the toss to Cho. This set up the Wildcats for an immediate 24-yard over-the-shoulder touchdown catch from Tyler O’Connor to Joseph Crifasi, putting them up 14-0 with Hunter Schanel's second extra point in the first quarter,
The Wildcats scored again early in the second quarter, on a direct snap to Bacote, who dashed in from 12-yards for a 21-0 in the second quarter following the extra point. Later in the quarter, Michael Faila barreled in for a four yard touchdown run, for a 28-0 halftime lead.
On the third play of the second half, the Wildcats James Crifasi rushed for a 19-yard touchdown run to make the score 35-0 after Schanel’s fifth extra point of the evening. .
The game's final score came in the fourth with a 47-yard field goal by Schanel. Final score was 38-0.
