EMERSON, NJ - Emerson's Joe Lacorazza scored four times as the Falcons defeated Wood-Ridge, 37-16, in a NJIC Patriot League game Friday evening in Emerson.  The Cavos needed a second half rally to put the Blue Devils away.

Emerson opened the game with a 2:52 scoring drive, as running back Joe Lacorazza would run off-tackle for his first of four scores in the game. Following the extra point, the score was 7-0. 

Wood-Ridge got on the board during their second drive of the game in the second quarter as quarterback Nino Iacovino took a quartrerback draw up the middle for a four yard touchdown. The extra point tied it at seven with 10:20 remaining in the half.

The Cavos responded on their next drive with a 65 yard screen pass from Frankie Savino to Lacorazza to go up seven with the point after in the second quarter. 

The Blue Devils drove down the field on their final drive prior to the end of the quarter. They got in field goal range for a Niko Giglio field goal with six seconds remaining to make the score 14-10. 

Wood-Ridge received at the start of the half and held on to the ball for 6:16 before getting a rollout touchdown pass from Iacovino to Giglio for thirteen yards. The extra point by Giglio was blocked, making the score 16-14 with Wood-Ridge leading. 

With twenty seconds remaining in the third, Lacorazza punched it in from two yards to give Emerson the lead. Savino and the Cavos stayed on the field for a two point attempt where Savino went in and scored off tackle to go up 22-16. 

In the fourth quarter with 6:37 on the clock, Lacorazza had his fourth score of the day on an 18-yard handoff to put the game  out of reach for the Blue Devils. Another two point score from Savino to Nick LaForge gave the Cavos a 14-point cushion. 

Wood-Ridge was stopped on their next drive, giving Emerson a chance to add to their lead. Savino passed to tight-end Daniel Murphy for an eight-yard score. The extra point put them up 37-16. 

Wood-Ridge drops to 2-3 in their second straight loss as Emerson remains undefeated at 5-0.
