LODI, NJ - The Hasbrouck Heights JV football team suffered it first defeat of the season, 15-14, in Lodi Monday afternoon in a game that came down to the final drives of the afternoon.

After Hasbrouck Heights took a 6-2 lead into halftime, the second half opened up offensively for both teams.  Following a quick three and out by the Aviators offense coming out of the break, the Rams blocked the ensuing punt and took over at the Aviators 28, and punched in the go-ahead score six plays later for an 8-6 lead.  The extra point was good, giving the Rams a 9-6 lead.

The Aviators bounced back, scoring early in the fourth to taking a 12-9 lead on Mohammed Assaf 7-yard run. Brendan Miller hit Michael Canavatchel for the two-point conversion to give the Aviators a fourth quarter lead.

Lodi, however, bounced back with a 12-play drive of their own, scoring with a little over three minutes remaining in the game, taking a 15-14 lead.  The conversion attempt was broken up.

Robert Boscarino returned the ball into Lodi territory on the ensuing kickoff.  After a Anthony DiLascio run to set up a second and five, where Miller hit Isaiah Barone for a 10-yard gain for a first down and stopping the clock.  Following another short DiLascio run, Miller threw into the end zone, where Barone was interfered with, moving the ball 15 yards forward to 12.  (Under high school rules, pass interference is a 15 yard penalty, not a spot foul).

With 30 seconds left, the Aviators tried a trick play, a reverse where Miller would throw the ball to Barone in the end zone.  But Miller was sacked and stripped of the ball, with Lodi recovering, ending the game.
