PARK RIDGE, NJ - Justin Wagner rushed for 114 yards and three first half touchdowns, as Park Ridge defeated Wood-Ridge, 46-0, Friday night in Park Ridge in the NJIC Patriot Division opener for both teams.
Wood-Ridge struggled right off the bat with mistakes, as Chris Chao returned the ball to the Park Ridge 22 on the opening kickoff, only to see it taken away due to a penalty. The Blue Devils fumbled the next handoff exchange, with Park Ridge taking over at the Wood-Ridge seven-yard line.
Wagner powered in from seven yards away on the next play, and then converted the conversion on a direct snap for an 8-0 lead 38 seconds into the game.
Wood-Ridge took over their next possession on their own 35, but was unable ot generate any offense, with Chao punting to the Park Ridge 22. But the Owls quickly struck again, as quarterback James Brazofsky hit Brendan Hughes on a 28 yard pass for a two touchdown lead, Wagner converted his second conversion for a 16-0 lead with six minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Wagner scored two touchdowns in the second quarter, and Luke Paptaros added another, as the Owls took a 39-0 lead going into the half.
The Blue Devils play their home opener against Weehawken next Friday at 7 pm. Weehawken lost to Wallington, 28-0 in their respective openers on Friday.
