HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - The newest UPR rankings are out, and Hasbrouck Heights took a huge jump in the standings after knocking off Butler, 25-20, on Friday evening in Hasbrouck Heights. The Aviators were 12th after Week 3 in the poll, then climbed to seventh for Week 4.  The newest poll (as published on GridironNJ.com shows the Aviators in the number two spot in the North Group 1 Poll.

A word of caution: it was discovered during the week that there were some programming errors in the previous calculations, which were corrected by GridironNJ, who has been given the task of doing the calculations for the rankings by the NJSIAA.  (In simple terms, buyer beware, and your mileage may vary.)

Also of note, the OSI is based on opponents strength, and the next two weeks see the Aviators play North Arlington, ranked 24th, and have a bye. So the strength of schedule will probably fall, as will the average power points.

Wood-Ridge is currently in 19th. The top 16 make the playoffs.

If Butler does not beat Cresskill next week, Cresskill, with wins over two of top Strength Indexes in Group I, will probably remain on top. Unless the winner of the Park Ridge (4) vs. Emerson (8) game catapults to the top.

And that before the NJIC playoffs begin, where the winner of the #1 cross-over games is sure to pick up points.

The new system was promised to be transparent, but only in formula.  Expect the new system to be harder to predict than the old when it comes to where teams finish in the standings.
