WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - The Wood-Ridge High School football team will face Lodi on Thursday evening at 6 pm at Donna Ricker Field in Wood-Ridge as part of the NJSIAA Crossover Games being held this week. The Crossover Games give those teams that did not qualify for the NJSIAA State Playoffs to play one final game.
Despite being 3.6 miles from one high school field to the other, it is believed to be the first matchup ever between the two schools. They have played in junior football, and other sports, but there is no record of them ever meeting in high school football.
Wood-Ridge will be trying to get back to .500 on the season, currently sitting at 4-5. Lodi finished 2019 with a record of 2-7. Both teams are members of the New Jersey Interscholastic Conference, but Wood-Ridge is a Group 1 school playing in the Patriot Division while Lodi is a Group 2 school playing in the Colonial Division.
Note that the game is at 6 pm on Thursday, not the normal time for Wood-Ridge home football games. Due to the NJSIAA State Playoffs on Friday evening, the Crossover Games are being played on Thursday and Saturday throughout the state due to a shortage of officials according to the NJSIAA.
