ELMWOOD PARK, NJ - A furious fourth quarter comeback lifted the Hasbrouck Heights girls basketball team to a 45-42 win over Waldwick in the opening round of the Elmwood Park Holiday Tournament.  

The Lady Aviators trailed 38-29 heading into the fourth quarter before rallying for the win behind nine points from Devon Sonzogni and a great defensive effort by Hasbrouck Heights, holding Waldwick to just four points in the final quarter.

Waldwick jumped out to an early 13-6 lead after the first quarter, and led 31-22 at the half. The third quarter was a two-way defensive struggle as the two teams limited each other to seven points.

The fourth quarter, Lady the Aviators rallied, with Sonzogni’s nine, Kristal Kelly’s four and Paige McGuire’s three points leading the way.  

Sonzogni finished with a game-high 18 points, while McGuire had nine for Hasbrouck Heights.

They face host school Elmwood Park Monday afternoon at 12 noon in the championship game.
