HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - With only three returning defenders on the roster in the starting lineup, it would be a rebuilding year for the Hasbrouck Heights girls soccer team.  That might not necessarily be the case.

Head coach Claudio Fontalvo believes that the mix of talented young players with experienced veterans will still find the Lady Aviators in the race for the Meadowlands League title as well a North 1, Group 1 tournament bid.

One thing his team will need to do is finish games better than they did a season ago. He made it the key goal for his team this season, the need to put games away.

“Too many games last year were decided by one goal or less,” Fontalvo stated. “We never took advantage of all the opportunities created.”

He is also looking to mix four freshmen into the starting lineup, and his two most visible players are sophomores, so this is a young team.

Goalkeeper:  Odaliana Gomez (Sophomore), Layla Odeh (Senior)

Gomez, a sophomore, will have a lot of eyes, and pressure on her this season, as the number one goalkeeper.  She is backed up Odeh, a senior.

Defender:  Amanda Gasparino (Senior), Becca Beerman (Senior), Alexa Marinelli (Senior), Veronica Legaspi (Junior) , Gabby Solis Coto (Sophomore), Maria Manis (Freshman),  Ashley Annichiara (Senior)

Gasparino, Beerman, Marinelli and Legaspi are penciled in as the starters.  Soto-Colis, Manis and Annichiara will provide depth.

Midfield:  Kyla Perrapato (Junior), Giana Deliu (Junior), Alexa Garcia (Freshman), Ella Reyngoudt (Freshman), Natalie Kroncke (Freshman), Dea Jera (Freshman)

Perrapato will be joined freshmen Garcia, Reyngoudt and Kronke in the starting lineup, with Deliu and Jera providing depth.

Forward:  Paige McGuire (Sophomore), Victoria Mateo (Sophomore), Jenna O’Malley (Freshman)

McGuire returns after her freshman year up front.  O’Malley will join her in the starting lineup, with Mateo providing depth.
