PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The O’Malley brothers invaded California with mixed results Thursday and Friday as the Drexel Dragons wrestling team took a California road trip for three matches before the Christmas break.

The Dragons wrestled Stanford and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Thursday evening.  In the opener against Stanford, both Michael and Sean O’Malley came out victorious in Drexel’s 26-11 loss to Stanford.

At 174 pounds, Mickey O’Malley, captured a technical fall with a 16-1 win over The Cardinal’s Jared Hill at the  seven-minute mark. The red-shirt freshman is currently ranked 31st at 174 pounds.

Sean, a red-shirt sophomore, captured a 2-0 decision over Stanford’s Trevor Rasmussen.  

Against Cal Poly, Mickey continued his winning ways, pinning Nathan Tausch at the 2:51 mark in the match.  Sean, however, dropped his heavyweight match at 1:13 due to an injury default.  

The following evening, the Dragons defeated California Baptist, 23-15, with Mickey O’Malley picking up his third victory of the trip, with a high scoring, 12-8 win over Jacob Cooper.  Mickey O”Malley was one of two Dragon to go undefeared in California.

Sean did not wrestle at heavyweight against California Baptist.
