PHILADELPHIA, PA - It was a busy day on the mats for a pair of wrestlers from Hasbrouck Heights. Tri-meets are not all the uncommon in amateur wrestling, so wrestling twice is not a unique occurrence. But those matches are all usually in the same location, not two different buildings with five hours between matches.
At 2 pm, Drexel University traveled to Princeton for a dual meet against the Tigers, with Princeton coming out with a 22-16 victory. Michael and Sean O’Malley both captured their matches for the Dragons in defeat.
Ranked 27th in the country at 174 pounds, Michael pinned Kevin Parker at 1.21 of the match. Wrestling at heavyweight, Sean scored a major decision for the Dragons, beating Jack DelGarbino, 11-0, for the victory.
After the match, Drexel traveled back to Philadelphia, where they faced cross-town rival University of Pennsylvania, in Drexel’s Senior Night.
Michael, a red-shirt freshman, defeated Neil Antrassian, 4-0, while, Sean a red-shirt sophomore, won a 4-1 decision over. Nate Hoaglund. The victories help Drexel capture a 27-16 victory over Penn, capturing the Cheesesteak Trophy.
